Exercise your brain

Did you know that everything you do is routed via your brain; how you think, feel, act and how well you get along with other people? Just like your body requires specific types of fuel, so does your brain. No matter what your age, mental exercise has a positive effect on the brain and body.

A healthy diet, regular exercise and getting enough quality sleep all improve your mental ability.

What happens if I exercise my brain?
Your concentration span will increase.
Your memory will improve.
Brain stimulation assists in creating a ‘brain reserve’ which helps combat Alzheimer’s disease.

Try some of these tips to give your mind a quick workout:
Do a crossword or jigsaw puzzle or play a board game with your family.
Learn a new language, sport or craft.
Learn a new word everyday and share it with your colleagues, friends and family. Take turns in finding words and ways to use them in the home or workplace.

Try this quick maths equation to get you started:
Fill in the blank spaces with the numbers in brackets below so that the mathematical equation holds true. There are more empty spots than numbers, so one of the numbers may be used more than once.
_8 + 1_ - _0 + 75 = 8_

(2, 4, 9)
